Rising 1st thru 2nd Grades

Week 1

June 17th – 21st (first week is a 4-day week – no camp on Juneteenth)

  • Intro to Piano (Rising 1st thru 2nd)

    Intro to piano is designed to teach the fundamentals needed to perform piano and increase understanding of the basics of music. You will develop skills, discipline, and determination. You will participate in both group and one-on-one lessons with opportunities to perfect your skill and perform with other campers. If you have never played piano or have had a few lessons and are looking to learn more, this is the perfect camp for you. Music related games and crafts will also be included.
  • ImagiNation Stations (Rising 1st thru 2nd)

    Each day’s activities will be inspired by a particular theme, all brought together on the last day.

    • Day 1: Gold Rush Camp Howdy, pardners!  Are you ready to return to the Wild West for a hootin’ good time?  This is a fun day of mining for jewels, catching bandits, and creating Western-inspired art.
    • Day 2: Build It! Camp Come build a box city with us!  Using cardboard, sheets, duct tape, paper towel rolls, and other supplies, work with other campers to build a city.  You’ll need to decide where to put the schools, homes, hospital, stores, and more. Campers also build Lego habitats and repurpose recyclable materials to create art.
    • Day 3: Sketch It! DayLearn how to draw cartoon faces, bodies, and legs using a step-by-step process (no prior artistic experience needed!).  You will also participate in a short-film cartoon festival, voting for your favorites. Finally, you’ll learn how to draw unique settings and characters and turn a story line into a flip book.
    • Day 4: Wizards, Warriors, and Magicians Camp Come learn the art of magic and illusion, using your imagination and science to make objects move, to create potions, and to trick the eye.  Campers must also use their wits to solve riddles and find objects in order to storm the castle to save the day.

Week 2

June 24th – 28th

  • Fairytales and STEM (Rising 1st thru 2nd)

    Join us for an exciting week of STEAM Fairy Tale Fun and learning! Aspiring scientists will be transported into a magical story to solve a problem. Science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities will be integrated into this engaging camp experience. Your child will turn into a real engineer designing, creating, evaluating, and redesigning various structures to solve problems encountered by the characters (building boats for the Gingerbread Man to safely cross the river, designing bridges for the Three Billy Goats Gruff, creating a sturdy home for the 4th Little Pig and much more) in the imaginative world of Fairy Tales!
  • Introduction to Musicals (Rising 1st thru 2nd)

    Lights! Camera! Action! Campers who choose to participate in our musical theatre summer camp will enjoy a week of learning the fundamentals of performing arts, in a fun and engaging way. Each day, we will be focused on a different musical. Students will vote to decide which of their favorite songs they will showcase at the end of the week!

Week 3

July 8th – 12th

  • Rogue Rodent Mystery, CSI (Rising 1st thru 2nd)

    Your budding scientists will love this intriguing mystery that really hits home. Our beloved classroom pet, Alice the guinea pig, has gone missing! Young students will have loads of fun and learn all about crime scene investigation as they help solve the mystery. Activities teach a new but related aspect of scientific reasoning and a particular scientific process.
  • Free-Style Fairytales (Rising 1st thru 2nd)
    $335.00
    Campers will take well know fairy tales; rewrite and perform them in a fun and creative way. Each day students will transform a different fairy tale. The last day we will perform our favorite creation!

Week 4

July 15th -19th

  • Royals and their Court, Pirates and their Mermaids (Rising 1st - 2nd)

    Students will draw, paint, and construct themed projects that explore popular fictional characters of past times. Students will engage in art exploration using multiple mediums such as watercolors, ink, pastel, and paper mache.
  • Undersea Exploration (Rising 1st thru 2nd)
    $335.00
    As member of our crew you will be exploring the ocean’s depths through images, class discussions, and fun activities. Our voyage will take us from the surface to the sea floor where we will discover strange creatures and man’s curiosity about our watery world. Welcome Aboard!

Week 5

July 22nd  – 26th

  • Planes, Trains, and Automobiles (Rising 1st thru 2nd)

    Witness wheels in motion and wings in flight! Learn how the aerodynamics and rolling resistance of a vehicles affect their energy efficiency through designing and constructing model cars, trains and planes out of simple materials. Lastly, we’ll dive into a bit of coding, programing vehicles to follow a track.
  • Hands On! (Rising 1st thru 2nd)

    This is a camp for active learners who like to get their hands dirty.  During the week, campers participate in plenty of sensory activities such as making beach slime, excavating fossils, creating homemade bouncy balls, and making fidget toys.

Week 6

July 29th  – August 2nd

  • Around the World with Code (Rising 1st thru 2nd)
    $335.00
    All aboard!  Join us as we embark on a digital adventure! Each day our junior programmers will explore a different country both on-screen and off-screen through stories, games, activities, and crafts. Campers will learn computer programming fundamentals using ScratchJr, a block coding language specially designed for 4–8-year-olds by the folks at the MIT Media Lab.  Whether you’re an emerging or a strong reader, this coding camp will level up your creativity and tech skills!
